Got a new iPhone 6 contract with Vodafone yesterday. I am still waiting for the SIM card to activate. I have a full signal. I am unable to receive phone calls, or send text messages. As it says the phone is not connected. What is the problem?

Hi @siobhaun23

Welcome to the eForum.

You’ll need to make sure that this has been activated.

We’ll be able to check on this and see why this isn’t connecting to the network.

So we can access your account and check this, get in touch with our Live help team.

Cheers,

Laura

Excuse a really numpty question. So I am staying with Vodafone. I am also moving away from blackberry after a century and getting an iPhone 6 tomorrow. I would be grateful for advice on what to do next. Do I go on line and activate the SIM. How do I copy contacts from BB Q10 to the new baby? Thank you.

Hi, you can activate a sim online, you can do it via livechat or you can do it in a store.

If you go to a store they can copy contacts etc across for you. If you can't get to a store not sure if you can do this as I have never had a blackberry but you may be able to create a contacts v card and then send that to the new device.

Another way is to back up contacts to a google mail account and then create a new account in the new phone and import the contacts.

Thanks to both. The red box in store doesn't work. My wife did that a while ago when she had her first iPhone. Copies a few. Misses most. I can do SIM swap on line I think. But I don't think that copies anything from my old SIM to the nano. Just allows me to use same number isn't it?

Yes that's correct only swaps the number over.

As said a sim swap is designed to move both your Mobile Number and Tariff across from one SIM card to another.

Try using Google to see if any return hits help you in regards to moving across as much data as you can.

DropBox may be another avenue. Link https://www.dropbox.com/m

Download drop box and copy all the info you can into it and then download it onto the iPhone and draw down from your DropBox account.
