Hi all,
New to the forum, so please be gentle!
I have a Huawei Ascend G300 and am having continual problems trying to update and install apps due to 'insufficient memory'. I have very few apps on the phone, email, banking, chat...that's about it. No twitter or facebook. When I check the memory in 'System Settings' it shows over 2gb of internal memory free AND 14gb free on the SD card.
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions as to how to resolve this, as can't afford to buy a new phone at the moment.
Thanks!

Hello.
May I ask are you on the latest firmware.
If you have that amount of free internal memory space left you shouldn't be having issues downloading Apps from your official App Store.
The SD Card will be good for holding pictures , music, video etc.
Try a Soft Reset by turning the phone Off and On to see if this helps. Look in the settings to see if their is an option to clear app download data or something similar.
Their are options such as a Factory Reset or Hard Reset which returns the phone to how it came out of the box which helps to clear hiccups , but as this deletes any saved data in the phones memory its recommended to create a back up.
This procedure is a last resort.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I know that there are no current updates available for the OS. I also clear the memory cache and do 'soft resets' on a regular basis. None of this appears to make any difference.
If anything, the problem seems to be getting worse. When I first got the phone I used to run twitter and facebook apps among several others without any problem.

@mrbtw Did you do any searching on this Forum? I remembered this issue from way back, and did a small amount of searching - http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Other-manufacturers-OS/Internal-storage-problems-on-the-G300/m-p/1406... is the one that I remember (I think!) and there are some other thoughts on http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Other-manufacturers-OS/G300-Insufficient-Storage/m-p/1469206
If those don't help, you could try a bit more searching. The old Huawei board ended up being merged into this Devices: Other Manufacturers and OS Discussion board, so you could seach on likely terms, then thin it down by restricting the location to this board. If you then sort by date order, everything relevant will be in the second half of 2012 and in 2013.

Thanks, Annie_N! The second of those threads looks particularly interesting. I'll have a good read through and see if I can find a solution.

There was a staggering amount of information on the Huawei board, as hoards of us tried to get to the bottom of the problems with the upgrade from GB to ICS. I crawled back to GB quite early in the saga, and decided to stay put; the phone still runs well, but there aren't that many modern apps that it can cope with, so it's really just my emergency backup handset these days.
Re-reading those threads, I've an idea that the confusions caused by the three different memory measures was at the root of some of the problems. You've probably found it already, but there is a new Vodafone online guide to the phone now - http://support.vodafone.co.uk/Device-Guides/?manufacturer=Huawei&type=Phone&model=Ascend+G300#
I've checked my PC, and I have assorted PDF versions of the user manual, both GB and ICS. I even have a Czech version, which I think cast light on something or other - but extracting the info was a bit of a struggle! The manuals section of the Huawei website still has some - http://consumer.huawei.com/uk/support/manuals/index.htm - then I searched on Smartphones, and found them under U8815.
