Solution

Huawei K3765 - RAS 635 and then RAS 619 - Vodafone eForum

To whom this may concern,

I am borrowing a friend's 32 bit Windows Vista Asus laptop which has been using a Huawei K3765 Vodafone USB modem for as long as I've known of this computer. My friend is now overseas and all of a sudden the modem doesn't work.

RAS error 635 was my problem until I figured out how to delete the "modem" as listed under "network devices" in device manager. That stopped 635 but now error 619 is persistent no matter what I do, and I have tried dozens of different approaches for four days.

I assume this is a contract-based service but as it is not my router I don't know for sure and my friend hasn't gotten back to me.

619 is always briefly mentioned but never fixed in connection with THIS router, only with the E-series models.

Please let me know what is the procedure.

Thank you for your time!

Hi confederatesoilder,

A warm welcome to the eForum!:)

I'm confident we can get this sorted for you, this issue is largely caused by account type. I believe your on contract?

If so from the VMC homescreen click 'Mobile Connections', then click 'View' and then 'New'.

Now all you need do is make sure all of your settings are correct, for contract this is:

APN: internet

Username: web

Password: web

Can you try this ad let me know if it makes any difference for you?

Thanks

Thank you for getting back to me.

I am not aware of VMC as I have the most recent version of a certain "VMB", Vodafone Mobile Broadband. Is there a difference, because the controls are very different. I managed anyway to find how to edit the APN and set the username and password but no avail, error 619.

Hi confederatesoldier

VMB? no no VMC (Vodafone mobile connect) it can bee downloaded via our business website. it might be worth uninstalling the current software and installing 9.4.6 on out site.

I've come across a 635 error a few times with the K3760.

To resolve this follow these steps:

  • Unplug the device and close the VMC software.
  • Go to Control panel > Phone and Modems> Modems Tab and remove all Globetrotter entries.
  • Plug the device in and allow this to finish installing.
  • Go to “Device manager” and Disable the onboard modem (if present) then disable the Globetrotter entry under “Network adapters”.
  • Go to Network connections (Manage network connections in Vista) and remove VMC dialup if present. Unplug the device and open VMC.
  • Delete any Globetrotter entries from manage devices, click Apply then Ok and then and close VMC. Plug the device in and open VMC.
  • Once the device has been detected by the software go to Manage devices.

At this stage you may only see an Application interface this will be ok as long as it is showing ticked as default and active. On the other hand you may see the two entries, if this is the case you will need to make sure that the modem interface is the one ticked as default and showing active.
  • Go back to main view and click Connect to test the connection.

Let me know how this gets on

Thanks

My modem is Huawei, not Globetrotter, and K3765, not K3760. The software I am using is the "official" software I was supposed to use but I will give that suggestion a go.

What part of:
1) You specified the WRONG modem,
2) You gave me the solution for the WRONG modem,
3) I have a Huawei K3765 that is not working but my friend is still paying for;

Did you not understand?

Hello Confederatesoldier

The VOdafone Mobile Connect software works with all Vodafone Modems, it is possible that you are simply using an older version of the dsoftware.

Please cna you uninstall any vodafone software on your PC for now, and download the latest version of VMC (I've linked to the latest Version 10), then install and advise of any improvements.

Once you have installed the latest software we can continue to troubleshoot this from that basis, :)

Thanks
