IMS Framework Battery Life Galaxy S5

IMS Framework is using all my battery life in less than 5 hours since the latest update - any suggestions how to stop this? Killing the process doesn't help, as it keeps restarting, and I can't uninstall it..

Any thoughts?

Hi there

Did you perform a factory reset after you updated the firmware?  It is always advisable to do this as it complete wipes the device, removing old bits of code that could cause issues.

Hi,

I've just carried out a Google search and this issue seems to be all too common occurrence.

Unfortunately I'm yet to see a solution as most say as you do that it just re starts.

Do you use the feature ? Are you able to remove / delete IMS ?

Once you have done a factory reset, please let me know so I can post you some instructions on how to disable RCS on your device.

Thanks for the inputs - I am in the process of a factory reset as I type..

Cool - normally it does sort out issues on the handset.  Fingers crossed that it helps you.

Once you have completed the hard reset, you need to make sure that Rich Communications is disabled.

On the S5, you can disable it by going into the messages app, select Settings > Default Messaging App > Rich Communications and make sure it is unticked.

That should also help reduce the amount of battery used by IMS framework as it is part of Message +
