IPhone 5S Fault out of Warranty and Vodafone Insurance Not Covered!!!

Hi i need some HELP!!!

I got an IPhone 5S on my very first bill pay contract January 2014 and the phone stopped picking up network a week ago so i did the natural thing and connected it up to ITunes to fix the problem with a factory reset and it got stuck in Recovery mode

so i contacted apple support for some help who after an hour and a half resetting the phone and it still not working i decided to take it down to the Apple Store to see if they could fix/repair it, They tried to do the factory restore to no avail and They said because i had the phone over a year it was 55 days out of Warranty and it would cost me £200 to get a new phone (Not Happening) Ithought i read somewhere that EU law stipulates that if any Manufacturing Defects are covered for 2 years...... I could be wrong.....anyway

This was not good so i decided to take the phone to Vodafone to see if they could get it fixed for me, I have insurance but i am reluctant to go down that route as the phone is 100% it was looked after very well and no scrapes or damage to it what so ever. So i dont feel i have caused damage to it so why should i have to pay for a dickie phone, I then got left a nice mail from the Vodafone Repair center saying that because it is out of Warranty i would have to pay £205 to get it replaced (Price keeps going up and up here)

Then i decided ok screw it ill just go down the Insurance Route as i need a phone and £50 isnt the end of the world and SHOCK HORROR the Insurance Company that Vodafone Use said they can not Accept the claim as it is not a Damaged lost or stolen phone and is a Manufacturing defect that is not covered!!!!!! OMG i am paying this Excessive Insurance for 14 months £13 or £14 a month and they will not fix my phone,

I Feel REALLY hard done by here and NEED HELP as i do not know what to do. I have not broken this phone and got the insurance from the start of the contract as advised and now i feel like Apple and Vodafone are having a right laugh at me

Any help would be appreciated and thanks for reading

Hi

These are safe and relevant links to EU Law which suggests a 2 year warranty and 's own warranty page which suggests 6 years ,which could be of help to you.

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-1677034/Two-year-warranty-EU-law.html

Look at the Sales of Goods Act too.

Look at the Terms & Conditions for your insurance to see if you can find something to help you. Some Bank Accounts give cover too which many are not sure about.

Hi @Mark1986

Welcome to the eForum, we'd love to help.

Your Vodafone Insurance would only cover you for theft, loss, or accidental damage.

However please speak to our Live help team, and we can look into your repair options.

Thanks,

Amanda
