I just want my ##~## phone unlocking, is it really that hard?

My mum bought me a phone which is locked to Vodafone, she has multiple contracts with Vodaphone however i want to use the phone on EE as i found a better deal, the phone was bought from CEX, i thought it would be as simple as contacting Vodafone and asking for them to unlock it, i have spoke to live chat 8 times, called on the phone 5 times, been into 2 seperate Vodafone stores all of which lead knowhere as noone has a ##~## clue whats going on, Vodafone needs to sort its ##~## out, the company is all over the damn gaf, there is no crossover what so ever, Absul on live chat doesnt ##~## know what goes on in stores, and billy big ##~## in the Vodafone branch doesnt even know how you guys unlock phones, the business structue for Vodafone is an absolute ##~## shambles, id love to happy slap the ##~## out of the CEO. I just want my ##~## phone unlocked. The phone has previously been on contract for a year with Vodafone and now is no longer in use, i can show you the receipt from CEX to prove its not 'stolen' which would be the only reason i see fit for you not to supply and unlock code. Iv filled in 4 ##~## forms and heard nothing and its been a whole week, i finally got the email address to the coverted 'NUC Team' which low and behold uses automated responses. I am now DEMANDING my phone be unlocked, I have spoken to Apple and they told me they do not intend for carrier companies to refuse unlock requests unless they have a proper reason to, which you dont, I am not getting a SIM to use for 30 ##~## days just to get the phone unlocked, you scamming ##~##, stop trying to get money out of me, my mother has told me if you dont sort this ##~## out she is pulling all of her 3 contracts she is running with Vodafone so if you want to lose over £120 a month be my guest.

Ok @Bawzion I understand your frustrated.

I understand the phones been used with a Vodafone contract for a year but as I read this it’s not been your contract but someone else’s who sold the phone to Cex.

Did you know Cex can arrange unlocking for you ? Or so I’ve read before they can.

Vodafone would only accept an unlock request from the original contract account holder.

When a phone has been purchased the way you have then Vodafone will unlock it for you but only when the following criteria has been met.

On Pay Monthly Vodafone x3 bills have been paid on time.

On Vodafone Payg 30 days has elapsed with the SIM card been used in the iPhone making calls , sending texts etc.

Unlocking is free for both contract types but with Payg it’ll cost a minimum top up to be able to make calls.

Then after 30 days fill in the unlock request using the new Vodafone Payg details.

An iPhone is not unlocked via inputting an unlock code but instead is unlocked via Apple and their Database.
Vodafone would email you to confirm it's been requested after accepting your unlock request. (Check Spam Inboxes too)
Apple then can take occasionally approximately up to 30 days sometimes to complete an unlock request made by a Network.
Periodically insert an active Non-Vodafone Sim Card in the iPhone and hook up to iTunes.
From the iPhone 5 onwards there's not normally the need to hook up to iTunes to complete the process.

@Bawzion The information provided by in regards to using one of our Pay as you go SIM's for 30 days @BandOfBrothers is correct.

As the phone was purchased from a third party, we'd have no previous records of the phone.

We ask you to use a Pay as you go SIM for the 30 days so we can ensure that the phone you've requested to unlock is yours - only then can we process any unlock code requests that you make.

If you wouldn't like to do this, please speak with the third party where the phone was purchased for further assistance in unlocking your phone.
