Iphone 6 No Service

dhallam56
4: Newbie

Hi i have have recived my iphone 6 and new vodafone sim, and at the time of order (from carphone warehouse) i gave my Pac code. I popped the sim in on friday and since then all i have got it No Service on the iphone 6.

Now i hope that this is just due to pac transfers dont happen over the weekend which is fine, but the last pac transfer i did the new provider the sim had to be working before the transfer could take place. So im just making sure that this is ok or do i need to do anything with the new sim card? as all i recived was the sim and assumed it would be already registered and pac transfer underway.

If im totally taking the wee wee and need to contact Carphone warehouse i totally understand but thought i would try here first.

Also i am so happy to be coming back to vodafone as i had the iphone 4 with yourselfs and left for Orange (Big Mistake) after 24 months with Orange im back... which is a good testamant to yourselfs as with orange i get better signal but i will never use them or EE again....

Many thanks

David

Have you tried activating your sim via the website?

Try this website: http://www.vodafone.co.uk/vodafone-uk/forms/sim-swap/

Not sure it'll help or not. I had to use that site and the next morning u restarted my phone and got service. Might be worth a try.
  • Previous phone: iPhone 5 64GB Black Slate
  • Current phone: iPhone 6 Plus 128GB Space Grey
  • Next phone: Possibly the iPhone 7

Cheers for the ideas, i will give it a few hours today to see if anything happens if not i will complete that online form. A bit odd as the Pac request should have been requested by carphone warehouse.

Oh well hopefully should be on today 🙂

Hi dhallam56,

It's best to keep the new SIM in the phone and switching it off and on throughout the day.

The port can happen in stages, so you might be able to send and receive texts before you can make calls.

Hi i went to CW yeaterday and they checked for me and the Porting had failed on the 19th the error was the porting date and time was in the past!!!! LOL so they re-did it for me yesterday at 2pm and it stated that it was a sucess so hopefully it should port through today.

He did think it was a bit odd tho that their was no signal at all on the vodafone sim and just states NO SERVICE, but all looked ok on their system.

I will let you know if this works or not hopefully sometime today.

Many Thanks

David

I have repiled to Ian_C via private message that he sent me as still no service and my old phone is still up and running so somthing has gone wrong 🙂

Hi dhallam56,

We don’t read PM’s, because it would take away from our time helping on the eForum.

Have you emailed us, as per Ian’s post?

Thanks,

Wayne

Yes I sent a request via the email to support.

Perhaps you will have better luck than me - no-one wants to know my problems, or fix them

Im all sorted now, the support team coudnt help me as at no fault of vodafones i had not even got an account and the sim had not even been activated. I went to CW and the very helpful guy their made 2 phone calls, reset the phone and finally got signal on my temp number.

Then i phoned vodafone and my number is porting today.

The Guy from CW did say its better to order the phone get the temp number connected then port your number after as issues like this happen when you try to port at the same time as ordering.

If anyone is having the same issues contact CW or if ordered direct from Vodafone get in contact as the temp number probably needs activiating first.

Cheers

David
