Solution

Just had the update, then config message and now no data!

I let my phone update (OTA) today and it seemed fine, right up until it decided it needed to send a new configuration message and that was the moment in time that the data icon vanished for good!

I have resent it 4 times and done the jump to another network and back trick vodafone suggested when I waisted 10 minutes on the phone to tech support.

Any ideas?:smileysad:

I'm not sure what you are on about.  There have been posts from Vodafone in this thread about a week ago.  Also, if you take a look here you will see that there is a statement from Vodafone with a work around.  That is by doing a factory reset.  TBH, it is always best practise to do a factory reset after any update.

It's now March without a fix to this ridiculous problem, and before everybody jumps on me a factory reset is not a solution,I have neither the time or know how.Vodafone have actually been rude, aggressive, and inconsistent on the phone to resove this issue. So my question is,does anyone know if i can cancel my contract with 11 months of a 24 month contract remaining,on the grounds that vodafone are not supplying a service I am paying for, without having to pay any fees.Incidently both myself and partner have been with vodafone for at least 15 years, but after my treatment, never again. Two good customers lost.Any advice greatly appreciated

Hi @liquidlen

Welcome to the eForum.

I’m disappointed to hear that you’ve had this experience.

Can you advise if this was in store or through a call centre?

If you need immediate help, our Live help team’s available.

Thanks,

Sarah

Hello Sarah

the majority of my dozens upon dozens of dealings have been with the call centre, when they did advise me on a couple of occasions, to make the 20mile round trip to the local store,to sit for two hours, while the store decided they could not  solve the problem.I've just had enough now after everything (way too much to go into detail) We just want out.I've never in my life ,as a paying customer, been treat with so much contempt. It's as if the problem is my fault,I've been in touch with the ombudsman with my complaint as I've reached the end of the road with vodafone. But if you could advise me if i can get out of this contract at no cost,I would be extremely grateful.

Both myself and my wife have S4s which are now incapable of sending and receiving pictures in mms. Been to the shop before Christmas and still no sign of a fix or update. Contract is up this summer think our business will go else where. 4 phones 4 contracts! A factory reset is not an option as people report only limited success before the problem happens again.

Hi liquidlen,

There are many instructional videos all over the internet demonstrating the factory reset process and how to safely backup and restore your content.
If you are not prepared to try all suggested remedies then how do you know if your phone could be easily fixed by you, or not?

A factory reset will wipe out any conflicting software that could be causing the issue.

I really think you should give it a go... 🙂
