Asus Netbook 100H with Windows XP
K3565 mobile dongle.
Hi,
A newcomer with a problem that may have been discussed before, but I am unable to find via search.
The device is recognised and connection made-from here I can download emails &
check balance but cannot access the web from any browser (Firefox-IE nor Google Chrome) with the
outcome page is unavailable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi bminverness

Welcome to the eForum :D it is always good to see new faces on here.

I do need to get some more information from you to try and diagnose this.

When the dongle is connected what colour light are you getting? and is this flashing?

Are you using this on a contract or PAYT?

Hi Martin,
Thanks for the welcome.
When the dongle is plugged in it starts flashing-mostly green or blue if I can get 3G.
Once the connection is made it has a continuous green or blue depending on the
connection speed-GPRS (if that's right) or 3G.
I am on a PAY use scheme.
Regards,
Brian

Hi bminverness

Thanks for your post here. I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with this. I can totally appreciate how frustrating this must be for you.

A solid light means that you have established a connection. The fact that you are able to download emails also means that you have an active connection with the network. The fact that you are unable to use a web browser points to your computer I'm afraid as we have already proved that the connection is working correctly.

When you try and go to a webpage such as www.google.com do you get any sort of error other than page not available? If you do could you provide us with a screenshot? or a full read out of the error message.

Please let me know and we'll be happy to help you further

Thanks

Wayne

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for your help.
Because you thought it must be the computer I suspected the Comodo Internet Security software I have installed may be causing the problem.
Although it shows that Vodafone is allowed full access-I suspended both the firewall & the antivirus and all the browsers worked
perfectly.So your assumption was correct.
All is now well and thanks again for your help.
Kind Regards,
Brian
