K3565R Usb Modem Stick - software auto install

Hello,
I have a K3565R USB Modem Stick which every time i connect to the laptop wants to load the device software again.
The software is already installed so I just cancel it but it does get a bit tedious, could anyone shed any light on why this happens, and if there is a fix for it.
Many thanks

Hi there waynemf, and welcome! :P

The problem you describe is quite a common one with Windows OS computers, and it comes from not properly recognizing the modem. This will be down to a port conflict in your Device Manager (in Control Panel). Can you check here to see if there is an exclamation or question mark next to the modem entry?

I would recommend downloading and installing the very latest Vodafone Mobile Connect For Windows - after this, please restart and see if this does the trick!

Let us know how you get on with this :)

Hi Daz,
and thanks for the reply.
I did as you recommended and downloaded the latest Vodaphone Mobile Connect for Windows, which I tried to install.
The software uninstalled 'Vodaphone connect lite' which was the original software, and then proceeded to go through its install process stopping when it reached approx 95% of the install and then 'Rolling back' and completely uninstalling itself.
So i,m back on 'Vodaphone connect lite', and still having the same problem.
I have checked device manager, and there are no exclamation/question marks against the modem entry.
The OS on my laptop is Windows XP pro on SP3, if that is any help.

Best regards
Wayne

Hi waynemf

To stop the modem from trying to install Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite whenever it is plugged in, simply go into the Start Menu, and Right-click on "My Computer".

Select "Manage" from the pop-up menu. Next, select "Device Manager" from the left-hand side, and you'll see a list of connected devices appear on the right.

Expand the category "USB Host Controllers" by clicking on the plus symbol next to this heading.

Find the entry "USB Mass Storage Device". Right click on it, and choose "Disable". Now, so long as you remember to always use the same USB port, the modem will no longer prompt you to install VMC Lite when plugged in :)

Let me know how you get on :).
