Hi guys have just bought a K4505 dongle updated vmc to 9.4.6 as instructed and works fine, my problem is that now i can't use my dial-up connection (which i prefer) i keep getting an error 777 code which voda say is a locked sim or something similar i know 100% my sim is fine and dial-up still works if i use my K3765 dongle. i have deleted the 3765 from my system in case it was causing a conflict but still no joy  voda said they haven't got a clue why this is happening can anybody else help please i prefer the faster dial-up method?

hi guys well must say i'm rather disapointed at no reply to my earlier post even if it was just to comment on the lower reception on a supposed higher spec dongle? especially when a 21mb dongle is not even half as fast as a 7.2 and yes i know the 21mb one only uses 14.4meg

btw the dun i'm using is *99***16#"ip","internet"

That looks strange, where did you get those settings from?

for a short period during mast maintainance I was able to connect with my K3520 using
AT+CGDCONT=4,"IP","internet"
ATDT*99***4#

All other times it's been left at:
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"
ATDT*99#

i got the no from one of the tech guys at voda and didn't have to bother with the initialisation string it's always worked fine first time and still does with my old 3765?

Personally I've never seen that particular dial-string. The one I would use would be as follows:

*99***16#

You can try this either with no Initialisation string, or alternatively, with the initialisation string of:

AT+CGDCONT=16,"IP","internet"

I trust that helps.

hi Jon
this is a replacement dongle and the dialer no i use as above works fine with my 3765 all the time? i've tried all suggested dialler no and initialisation strings (thanks by the way :) ) but am still getting the 777 error plus the reception is better on my old dongle than on the 4505 so i think it can go back as a lower download speed it is no good to me whatsoever as some of the files i download are quite large so the 4505 will be going back ( wouldn't change my provider though your customer service is the tops next to others i've used) :D

Hi gaz23g,

Thanks for the kind words :) Now that I think about it, with this modem being one of the newer ones, I think it might install itself as a Network Adaptor rather than be DUN based, so that could very well be why it's not working. It treats the connection like a LAN/VPN connection, and not a dial-up connection.

I'm sorry to hear you're not happy with the speeds offered though. If you purchased over the phone or online, please contact the corresponding channel to arrange a return if you are still within your 7 day cooling-off period.
