i've been trying for a number of hours to download the firmware update for the k4505 USB modem; i've been using the following link:
http://uploads.vodafone-ets.co.uk/Public/vmc/Firmware/K4505/K4505Update_11.828.03.00.11.B427.exe
Can anyone provide me with an alternative link? I require this as a matter of urgency!

Lee,
It's great that you've rep[lied to another forum user with an alternative URL for the firmware update.
But there's still issues:
1) A month on from the O/P's msg and the original URL still doesn't work....so please update the link on your website (to a different URL) or (better) make sure the firmware file is actually available on the existing link.
2) As it stands, just a month or so after your reply was posted, the alternative you've provided:
https://www5.ibackup.com/qmanager/servlet/share?key=ilejq20342
isn't working now....so, this doesn't help anyone who still needs to fix the fault on their Vodafone dongle.....
I've had my K4505 a year now and I still cannot connect via EDGE/2G - and you'd have thought someone at Vodafone would have got in touch with users to let them know of the "fix"....but I've heard nothing.....and the website link doesn't work....
Please let me knowonce the link is fixed and I can update my firmware.

Cheers for your post. You can get the file from our Mobile Broadband Troubleshooting thread
I trust this helps.

Hi Lee,
Thanks for the info.
BUT isn't this the new version of the VMC software, rather than the UPDATED FIRMWARE for the Huawei K4505 dongle.....??
I thought the dongle FIRMWARE needed updating, as I already use VMC v10.1.108.29105 and this doesn't cure the issue of losing the 2G/GPRS signal.....
Can you enlighten me as to which software "update" fixes the "losing the connection on GPRS" issue.
regards
Tim

Hi timbo-mobile
Thanks for your post here. Sorry about the mix up with this.
I’ll be happy to give you the link for the firmware installer however, I’ll need to know which colour of the K4505 you have?
This is very important to which version of the installer I give you so please let me know and we’ll be happy to help you further
Thanks
Wayne

Hi timbo-mobile,
I've checked for the white K4505 in our archives and there is no new firmware loader available, only this latest version of the VMC software.
Please can you try again with this and see what happens. If there's still no joy, walk us through exactly what transpires from start to error so we can see things as you see them.

Hi,
OK TWO things
1) On your website there is some information here:
which states:
K4505 USB Modem connects and then disconnect after a few seconds when on GPRS/EDGE (2G Network)
K4505 USB Modem connects and then disconnect after a few seconds when on GPRS/EDGE (2G Network)
Cause: this issue has been found to be a firmware issue in conjunction with the Vodafone UK Network.
Resolution: this can be resolved by upgrading the firmware as follows:
If your firmware upgrade is NOT suitable for a WHITE K4505, then please ARRANGE for someone to send me a FREE replacement mobile internet dongle that WILL work on 2G/EDGE/GPRS as well as 3G After all, what is point of providing these devices (which I paid for !) if they don't work on your own network ???.
2) I have downloaded the 10.2 VMC software. It took a while to upgrade from the 10.1 software, but although it looks "prettier", it does NOT fix the problem and my conenction lasts about 20 seconds if I'm lucky.....

Tim
