I tried to download the latest Firmware upgrade for my phone and while it was on the second download it was stuck at 16%, I left the phone plugged into the computer (which was charging it at the same time) and I came to check on it in the morning and it was still on 16%. Because Kies was open it was preventing me from using my laptop so I unplugged the phone and it error message came up on the screen. I tried to reconnect it and do the emergency recovery via Kies but it couldn't seem to find the device through the USB cable and so it prevented me from being able to proceed with the recovery. I don't know how to find what the recovery code is so I couldn't try it that way either and now I don't know what to do.

Hi
If this was my phone is try a hard reset which should take it back to the last successful firmware update. This process would delete information saved in the phones storage. Google Hard Reset followed by your model of Samsung.
Or contact Samsung uk support or visit a Samsung service centre if one was local enough.

I had this happen to my Wife's Galaxy Note (1) a few years ago.
Ring Samsung and arrange a repair, the chances are the "Nand" (onboard memory module) that holds the boot up partition is corrupt or damaged.
Samsung will replace the motherboard under Warranty usually within 5 days.
If there is a Samsung shop near you, they can fix it for you, sometimes within the hour, it depends if they have the parts and staff able to do it?
