Laptop not accepting an APN

I have an hp laptop with a pay monthly mobile broadband contract.

I have never had any connection problems until today. I get a message saying "Can't connect to this network (Vodafone UK (UMTS). Enter an APN and try again". I have tried many combinations after looking online and none work.

I used online chat and the advisor told me to use wap.vodafone.co.uk as the APN, and wap for the username and password. When that did not work they told me to turn my laptop off and on again. That hasn't worked either.

I tried Twitter and the advisor sent me here.

The information I need to fill in is:

Profile name.

APN.

Username.

Password.

Type of sign in info (drop down options)

IP Type (drop down options).

What am I doing wrong? I need my internet on my laptop for work. Any help is much appreciated!

@jojie4584 If you're still having issues with this, please try to fully disconnect your device from your laptop - you can do this on your laptop network settings.

Once this has been done, please reconnect to your Mi-Fi device and test the internet connection.

Thank you for replying. I finally found out what the problem was. Vodafone stopped me being able to connect because I had somehow used 2GB of data in one afternoon and had gone over my data usage!

I am now trying to find out how on earth this was possible.

So I wasted a whole day trying to sort the APN issue out when that wasn't even a problem! Now I am trying to not have to pay an extra £87 for an hour checking emails and Facebook.

Not happy.
