I did that two weeks ago! Just wondered why I'd heard nothing further. I am paying for a useless device right now, and I think some communication on progress from Vodafone would be appropriate.
The original story was that Vodafone was caught out by Apple releasing Snow Leopard a month early. Whilst it is pretty poor that no one in Vodafone subscribes to the Apple Developer Connection, where they would have have Betas and Release Candidates coming out of their ears, I expect they ought to be nearing a solution soon.
I am bored of wating for the subscribed thread to be updated. I would like a further update before my next convetsation with Customer Services about my bill.

Hi - I checked the Apple download site last night and there was a new version of the software, released on the 19th Sep. I installed that on my freshly built Snow Leopard 1st Gen MBP and my 3G modem works fine.
