Which Ports Are Open For Running A Webservice

Hello all,

I have a machine that serves webpages for configuration. Noramlly we have this connected via a router an ADSL. However some of these pumps are installed in remote locations. And we want to use them with a router that ses a 3G usb modem.

We have setup a test here and have the router set to use DynDNS as Vodafone serve dynamic IPs. When we try access the machine we can not access its pages. The firewall in the router is switched off and the port forward set correctly.

My question is does Vodafone allow incoming connections? If so on which ports?

Is there any chance you could have the remote systems connect back to a central location as clients, rather than having to run them as servers?

As pointed out by EwanM and jon (in the rather detailed linked post) we may always experience problems when trying to replicate a setup such as yours.

Unfortunately there is no chance of them contacting a central server they need to run stand alone.

Vodafone have a dedicated Machine to Machine sales dept surely supplying fixed IPs or having ports open for incoming connections is a common request?
