I have a k3565 usb stick but I cannot get it to connect to internet. The software is all loaded and the laptop recognises the usb stick however after initiating Vodaphone lite software a box appears stating that a violation has just occurred.
The usb stick works fine on my mates laptop but not on mine; any ideas on this problem.
My laptop OS is WIN/XP my mates is VISTA.

Hi sharkbite,

First of all welcome tot he eForum! It's always great to greet new recruits :)

Hmmmmm the dongles are XP compatible so you won't have to jusp ship to Vista just yet. Have you ever had any other mobile modems installed on the laptop you're using? It may be worthwhile disabling any Anti Virus software like Norton during the install as it may think the Vodafone software is the "violation".

Failing that can you supply the make and model of your laptop too? I'm sure once I have a little more information I can do the right amount of digging around for you ;)

Cheers, Ben

Hi Ben thanks for your help; the laptop is an ACER ASPIRE 5003WLMI;
When the dongle is inserted the modem dials up but a code 680 appears
box appears also with -system access violation/attempted to read or write protected memory
VMC.Connection ServicesInterface.RequestEnd Invoke.

Not sure what is meant by this.

regards David

Hi David,

Thanks for the error code, that gives us a better insight. Error 680 means the dongle isn't getting a "dial tone" because there is another device already using one of the ports the dongle needs (possible something like Bluetooth or another modem).

I'd recommend you download the latest version of Vodafone Mobile Connect (VMC) 9.4.3. This is the full version of the software rather than the Lite built into your dongle so it'll install onto your XP laptop. You can always download it from another computer and transfer the file via a USB stick if that helps. This is known in most cases to cure the error code you're having so let me know how you get on :)

Thanks,

Adam
