I've been charged for using maritime data that I don't believe I have used.
There are 8 seperate charges for £6, where I have used exactly 1mb
3 charges for £12 where I have used exactly 2mb of data
2 charges for £18 where I have used exactly 3mb of data
All in the space of 5 days. I know the roaming charges state £6 per 1mb so the charges tie in to the supposed data I've used.
This just doesn't seem right to me. I was on a cruise ship around Europe and had roaming on whilst off the ship. The moment I got back on board, I turned mobile data off. I've no idea what these 1mb instances would be. How can you even use exactly 1mb 8 different times? And what could you possibly do these days with 1mb? 1 of the days, I was actually off the ship all day and I've had 6 charges on this day.
Also, I was with 3 other people and none of these have had similar charges.

Hi @sjames16 it could be that if you were waiting until you got back on board then your phone was connecting via the ship network so you would be charged.
As far as I know you are charged per block of data so even using a little will trigger a £6 charge.

If you've been charged there is no doubt that you used the data. The secret is, as @63johnw has said, is to turn off mobile data when you get to the quayside and before you get on the ship.
When I was on a cruise in July my wife's phone connected several times to the ship's system and my phone didn't, on the same stateroom sitting next to one another. I've no idea why and I didn't realise it was happening and it cost me a few Pounds, and I;m both an experienced cruiser and a phone user. We all get caught out sometimes.

I would go one step further and recommend selecting Network Manually.
So only select the Maritime Network, once you have had a chance to switch off Roaming data.
