I'm attempting to download an update for one of my network devices. The URL is: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/qc4e5xc252czd
Having clicked the URL, and accepting the HTTPS warning (''vodafone: we're doing man-in-the-middle attacks' ) it gets converted to this:
And completely fails since it's in a redirect loop.
Seeing that the URL contains a human readable URL I go to: http://www.vodafone.co.uk/contentcontrolpage/vfb-category-blocklist.html
That page happily says 'Access blocked
You won’t be able to access this page because it’s been blocked by your content control settings.
f you want to access this page, you'll need to change your content control settings or add this site to your allowed list'
Clicking on allowed list logs me into the myvodafone page. I then click on 'Manage content controls'
On that page I see:
By selecting a content control profile you can choose which types of content you want to block.
Current profile: - off
Under blocked/allowed websites :
Blocked list: 0/10 sites
Allowed list: 0/10 sites
And the 'Managed blocked websites' is greyed out, probably because content blocking is disabled.
Clicking on 'Blocked websites' from the left hand side shows:
'You haven't set your content control profile
Please set your content control profile before setting your Blocked websites.'
Doesn't matter which browser I choose to use, or which device attached to vodafone I choose to use.
So, what is the correct way to get access to a legitimate URL that, for some reason, Vodafone is messing around with?
In addition, even if I just attempt to go to https://www.mediafire.com I still get exactly the same redirect issue and the site is entirely blocked.

That's interesting.
Maybe I'll try enabling the content filter, then re-disabling it.
I'm also using the standard VF router etc.

If you update the DNS servers you use (configured via the router's web interface) to use Google's, does the same happen?

Yes it does.

I've tried both the url's that you provided and can access both, there is no https message either.
My setup is standard - Vodafone router, router provided dns. content control off.
Accessing the first url gives a list of RT-AC68U firmware. The second url goes to the Mediafire home page.

... and that cured it.
