Mobile Broadband In South Africa

Salamat
Not applicable
Searching through posts here, am I summarising correctly....

For someone frequently visiting South Africa

1, I could buy a dongle here, but would have to pay to get it unlocked.

2, If I have an unlocked dongle, I should be able to get a sim in South Africa but I will need to learn various settings for the software to connect.

3, I could buy a dongle (Vodacom) in South Africa which may, or maybe not, be unlocked that I can also use in the UK. Anyone know if they're locked or not?

4, If I get a dongle in South Africa, I can probably find a sim to use in the UK, from a well known auction site, but again I'll need the settings to connect.

Anything else I need to consider, or anything simpler?

Hi Salamat

You are spot on really with everything you have said all these options will be available for yourself :D

In regards to getting a South African dongle and purchasing a SIM from ("from a well known auction site") why not consider a UK 30day rolling SIM only contract so it gives you the best possible value for your money :D

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I'd possibly mistakenly got the impression that you couldn't get a sim only for the dongle, so I'll look at that option. Thanks
