hello to all!
actually we use VMC version 9.1.2 and we want to update to version 9.3.3. Update works fine, but the profiles (c:\documents and settings\\application data\vodafone) wasn´t migrate. i try to copy the file MobilConnectProfile.xml but it down´t work (different format between versions)

is it possible to migrate the profiles? every user has a different profile (username/password). so i can´t deploy one template for all.

Thanks a lot for answers!
best regards

Hi Wilfried,

Welcome to the eForum :D

Can I ask why you want to use such an old version of our Vodafone Mobile Connect software?
The latest version approved for use in the UK is 9.4.6

Our latest versions also no longer use the old style of Connection Profiles that you used to have in 9.1 so these will be obsolete. To avoid any compatibility issues or problems, I would strongly recommend doing a full uninstall of your existing VMC programs, and then do a fresh install of 9.4.6

You can find instructions on how to deploy this across a network in our IT Administrators Guides :)

I trust this helps - if you need any more information, please let me know :)

Hello Jon!

Thanks for answer!

Our provider (A1 in Austria) provide this version on the company webside.
We will update our clients as you propose.
1. Uninstall old Version
2. Install new version
But i hoped that we can migrate the individual APN settings from each user.

thank you for information
best regards

Hello!

Is it possible to install the version 9.4.6 and configure an APN?
I try this:
1. Install VMC and set the new APN
2. Copy the section Connectiondata with the spezific into the default MobileConnectionProfile.xml from the directory templates.
3. Create with orca a transform File
4. install the package on a second laptop

in this case, the first run of vmc hangs. second start works fine, but the password of the apn was wrong.

we have to update 90 clients with individual username and password in the company APN.
Thank you for answers, tips and informations!
best regards
Wilfried

Hi wilgin,

The APN details can be amended by going to Settings > APN. I'd recommend trying that. Let me know if you have any issues :).

Hello!
thank you for answer!
I want to set the APN after installing VMC in one step for each user individual.

every user has his own access authorisation:
User 1: Username: FirstUser - Password: 5507
User 2: Username: SecondUser - Passwod: 8901
...
...
User 90: Username: LastUser - Password: 7654

When i deploy the VMC to each client, every user have to set his own APN. I want to set this APN while VMC installation on the client.

(example: msiexec.exe /i "Vodafone Mobile Connect.msi" /qr /SetAPN=myAPN /SetUser=Firstuser /SetPWD=5507 /LOCKUPDATING=true)

thank you
best regards
Wilfried

Hi Wilfried,

I'm afraid those APN settings are of a completely different style to those we use in the UK. Since this is a Vodafone UK forum, we're unable to provide any specific support for customers using other providers, such as A1 :(

I'd recommend contacting A1 directly for assistance with this one, as we're at a loss!
