Hi, I'm trying to configure our my mobile broadband to work with our router, its asking for a load of settings and i've tried a few differnet options but i'm just want to double check if they are compatible and what the settings might be.

I have a Vodafone Mobile Connect K3760 HSPA USB Stick and a Draktek Vigor 2820 router.

Any ideas?

Somebody shout at me if I'm missing the point entirely, but why are you trying to connect what is effectively a mobile phone/modem to what I assume is a router on an existing landline connection? Surely what you want is a WiFi connection isn't it?

The modem has a backup function which enables you the use the dongle as a backup incase your Adsl goes down.

In that case, wouldn't you be connecting it to the mobile network? Surely you use either WiFi or ethernet to connect to ADSL via your router?

Unless the dongle is also a WiFi client, in which case you'd need to use the WiFi settings rather than the modem settings to connect to the router. The original question, if I've understood it correctly, was that the dongle is asking for SIM settings, which means that it's trying to connect to a mobile line.

No, you use a mobile broadband dongle attached to usb port of router to access internet as
backup when wired adsl is down.

The router firmware needs to have required drivers for the mobile dongle built in and to make
a dialup ppp connection when needed.

I don't know if that router supports this method though.

Ah, I understand now. Never come across that before, but it's a neat trick. Thanks.

Okay guys, I got it working last night!

Use these settings

PP Client Mode= Enable
Sim Pin Code:
Modem Initial String APN:pp.internet
APN name:
Modem Dial String: ATCT*99#
Username: web
Password: web

Now reboot the router and wait on it fully staring up, then when you see the blue flashing light on the Vigor donge disconenct it from the router for a few seconds and then plug it back in. Wait for about 30 seconds and you should see the light turn a steady blue colour. This means it is connected to a 3G signal, if you only have have GRPS in your are it the light will be green.

Im using the latest firmware for the Vigor, If any one has problems drop me aline and Ill help.

Joe

Joe I also have a Draytek 2820 and a Vodafone K3760 and I've used the settings you have advised, but it doesn't work for me.

I don't suppose you could send me a screen dump of the configuration you have in your router for the WAN2 connection could you?

Thanks.

Gavin.
