Vodafone Mobile Connect (VMC) - Getting RAS Error 720

I've got the RAS error code 720 problem that others have had too. I understand it may not be a problem witht he dongle or Vodafone software but no-one seems to have found a solution to it yet (or maybe I just couldn't find it), so I searched Windows help and found some info (below).

I'm using a Dell Latitude laptop with XP pro.

The Microsoft help suggests this behavior can occur if your computer and the RAS server do not have a protocol in common, or if RAS is not configured correctly.

So can anyone help and tell me how I find out what the RAS server protocols are - or am I barking up the wrong tree with this info? The Microsoft support page I was looking at is here.

Hey there PJMaybe,

Shame to hear this - RAS (or Remote Access Server) error codes can both be useful and confusing :blink:

You can find the full list here.

In terms of getting this fixed, whilst we're not Microsoft accredited technical support, I would suggest checking your Services.msc (Services) for dropped service protocols, including Remote Access Connections Manager, Routing & Remote Access Connections Manager, Telephony and Networking. Make sure all are enabled.

I am hesitant to provide more detail as it's not something to experiment with without knowledge on, and if you are going to try modifying your services or registry, :excl: please remember that such procedures will be at your own risk, and always backup! We can't take responsibility (disclaimer over ;) ).

In all honesty, I would recommend a good IT / networking chap to have a look. Other than this, if you haven't already, download and try the latest Vodafone Mobile Connect - unless you have the VMC Lite installed, please uninstall previous versions first before installing a newer one.
