Moving from BB to S6

I went into an EEshop in a small town today and wooohooo thye hd a BB Classic in store.  It really doesnt feel any differnet tote Q10 but of course has the track pad back .  I also looked at the S6.  Clearly quite an item but no keyboard of course.  And also the SD micro card has gone.  It's an iPhone lol.

So the dilemma.  Stick with BB that hasnt moved on at all in2 years.  Just caught up with the Bold.  But be able to copy all data easily to the new phone.  Or move to a virtual keyboard and thehow do I transfer data to the new phone?  I cant use the memorre card on the S6.  BB doesnt allow any transfer data apps.

Has any one transferred from BB to Android?

im going from the bold to the s6 edge... when it eventually turns up.

i like a keyboard so i also eyed the classic but after seeing the softwear is 2 yrs old i thought it was time i left bb behind.

I  read up on it a bit before i made the decision.

from my findings you can apparently transfer data by bluetooth, or there is apparently a way of backing up the bb data on pc as you would if you were just getting a new bb and transfer it to samsung that way, called samsung smart switch, i think but like i said i dont have my pre ordered phone yet so i cant tell you if it actually works...so probably not much help. sorry

Perhaps you would let me know when you do get the phone. I have nop idea of how to do with Bluetooth but I know that's an option. When I attach my BB to the pc it connects to BB link! I look forward to your advice once you receive it

yea sure, when i eventaully get my phone and if i manage to move my data from bb to samsung i will come back and let you know what happened and how i did it

Looks like the Samsung switch works between Samsung phones only

I googled how to move data and got a result to the samsung page, it shows/explains how to move data from iPhone, blackberry and other aandroids using switch but you do have to download the switch to the pc.

It seemed straightforward enough, but until I get my phone and try it who knows!

So any ideas when you will receive the S6? It looks simple on that website. As you know as soon as you connect your BB to the PC it will open up BB link. How Samsung S6 can then link to that remains to be seen. Good luck.

When I get the phone seems to be the mystery question.

I'm waiting for a returns pack to send back the s6, then they can order the edge.

I'm hoping it won't be much longer

Carlac. What drives you to Samsung as opposed the dreaded iPhone? Android vs IOS. All a mystery to me. I turn on the phone and it works. Operating systems are beyond me. So with iPhone you have to pay for some apps I understand. The S6 is quite wide. I tried using both yesterday. I type emails with 2 thumbs. The iPhone 6 was easier to hold - even though my Q10 (with otter cover) is quite wide. On reviews they are neck and neck. The S6 shades it. But I guess you're a Samsung or an Apple guy and that's it. I phone text email (a lot). I look at websites. I rarely take photos. Never listen to music or watch videos. I do like quick launch to the Internet. I do use maps. Mobile banking. I never play games. I do love the BB keypad. The clicking noise when you type is not replicated on any virtual keypad. So why not stick with BB. Well I'm like you. It has taken them 2 years to get back to the bold. The trackpad that should never have left has returned. But there is nothing new. So I'm thinking why should I lock into a 2 year contract for a classic.

With both the iPhone and any Android phone you have a choice of free apps and apps that you have to pay for and by and large they are the same apps.

I have a lot of experience of both systems and I currently have an iPhone 6+ and it is a fantastic phone with exceptional battery life.

The iOS operating system that runs on iPhones is in some ways simpler to use and does just work. There are fewer options to customise the iPhone home screens but I doubt that will bother you.

All of the things you mention will work perfectly on both platforms.  All of the apps that Google makes, such as Google maps, work just as well on iOS as they do on Android.
