Hi everyone, just wanted a little feedback from members.
I want to move from Sky's basic broadband to Vodafone's Fibre 38. I see a lot of horror stories on Facebook about Vodafone's customer service etc but never many positives. Of course people usually love to complain but when it comes to praising a service, they don't bother, therefore there's only ever negativity.
Just want some feedback really, on the Fibre 38 package itself and are the customer service really as bad as everyone makes out? lol
Also, I don't want to be without internet for any amount of time as I need it for work. If I order Vodafone, will it cut off my Sky before the activation date or will it just switch over all at once? I know in the past it's just switched over flawlessly but when I asked the live help team a few moments ago, they were pretty useless.
Any help appreciated.

this is true. British companies only care about new customer aquisition.
Cancel sky, but if you can go for BT Fibre Infinity - I've had it for three years now and have had no problems.
Sky TV is different insofar that when you cancel generally if oyu leave it, around two days before it lapses they just throw stupid offers at you and you can pick up the full package for pennies.
Vodafone used to be very good with retentions, but I get the feeling the retentions team now oes nothing more than bring up the main website and get trained to say sorry to see you go,.
Pointless department now.
As the poster above has said, count yourself as having a lucky escape, especially as in their T&C's vodafone make it quite clear that irrespective of the price agreed, your tarrif WILL go up each year.

Me experience if very different from the other posters. Vodafone when I last renewed in December reduced my monthly spend substantially for a much better deal - and they retained my account.
I simply asked for the codes to transfer my service and they put me through to cancellations who did everything to try and keep me.
Sky on the other hand when I was moving broadband to vodafone this month did absolutely nothing to keep me. Because I wanted fibre they simply could not match vodafones prices and the swap to vodafone was flawless. I arrange this though by calling the same team who dealt with my retention as they seemed to know what they were talking about and they sorted it all out.
One issue I have had with vodafone though is consistency - it really does depend who you get on the phone/web chat and their level of competence and that has been a problem from time to time... I just keep trying until I get somebody who is speaking sense to me.

I've been unable to get any discount the last 2 years I've upgraded though both times Vodafone were already considerably cheaper than the competition so there was no need for them to offer any discount.

This is a fairly standard clause that's been built into contracts since Ofcom ruled that providers couldn't increase charges mid term. By building it into the T+C's they effectively get you to agree that they can increase the charges, though doesn't necessarily mean that they will.

I've been a BT Broadband customer for years and I have today received an email telling me that their prices are rising again. It's the way of the world. I have also just cancelled an ancillary service with them (BT sport) and they made no attempt to keep me interested even though it's part of their so-called quad play offering and they should be doing everything they can to keep customers.

Ah right, thanks. Thought it was something more specific like losing a discount after a certain period or something. Thank you for the info. 🙂

So after still not receiving my new date of activation, I'm cancelling on Monday and staying with Sky. They've given me a deal for £20 for 12 month contract for fibre and only £10 activation fee. Now I'm gonna have to return Vodafone's router and attempt to get my activation fee money back which of course was taken straight away from my account. Sky told me Vodafone cancelled my order on the 6th and they are yet to try again to take it over so clearly just being messed about. Funny how they are so quick to take money, not so quick to fulfil their promise.

Im currently with BT Infinity 12 month contract. I've been with Bt years and thry gave me a £16 monthly discount to stay.
When the 12 month term ends along with the discount I'll be re visiting my options.
Virgin Media or Vodafone Broadband will be considered if BT can no longer offer a sweetener.

no company in this day and age wants to keep customers.
Once upon a time yes, but times were different then, individuals were loyal to companies who saw them right and looked after them.
Now companies work on the principle of every one that leaves there will be ten who will accept what you feed them.
VF done the home broadband thing years ago and failed miserably then. I wonder how long it will last now.
Ultimately VF don't want hassle of negotiating and arguing with people. That's why they basically just say GO.
Even with their phone contracts, they don't budge. there are the deals... if you don'tlike them you know what you can do.
@Bandof Brothers, I went in with wanting a similar offer to the noew customer offers and went straight through to their retentions department - in the end I got a similar deal.
My advice is to get all the counter offers on a sheet in fromt of you and argue it from there, and also with an offer of what you think is reasonable to keep you.
At least that way I had a point of negotiation with which to start.
Vodafone - I asked for the PAC code and they just handed it over, and said sorry to see you go.
They tried to mug me off with a 'great deal' on an iphone 6 which was the same as the new customer deal but with no upfront cost (£10). really!
Then they lied about an ipad deal - no upfront and 27 a month - I went for it.
Luckily, they goofed shipping so when it didn't arrive I rang to question it.
My spider senses tingled and I asked what the deal was again, they said 37.
So I just cancelled everything there and then.
Vodafone onlt seem competitive now n sim only. I get the feeling they really don't care for customers wanting phone upgrades especially with the bank of mum and dad now financing the latest smartphone contracts without question in their hundreds of thousands.

Yeah I looked into Virgin Media but can't get it where I am, which is kinda ridiculous as I live in a big town and my friend who lives like 5 minutes from me, can get it lol
I honestly wouldn't recommend Vodafone after all this which is a shame cos on paper, it looks like a great deal, it's just getting them to actually stick to their promise of getting it all setup and activated which is the issue.
I actually just called them to let them know I am cancelling, didn't want to wait til Monday and he said to me everything in still cancelled from when they randomly decided to on the 6th. So obv the text I got telling me they were ordering it again, was another mess around.
Oh well, Sky for another 12 months and like you say, after those 12 months, I'll see what they can offer me. At the moment, I'm getting line rental free so after 12 months I'll be charged that extra £19 (or whatever it will cost in 12 months time). I hate that you have to pay so much line rental when I don't even have a phone plugged in.
