New HTC One mini 2 unable to connect to HTC servers

Hi all.

 

Just received my new phone and going through the set-up and I'm unable to connect to HTC servers to complete the set-up.

 

I have added and account on the HTC sense website and still no joy.

 

Does anyone have a solution? As i'd like to use my new phone.

I'm not sure why the phone would need to connect to HTC to complete the setup, unless it was to download some updates that should be optional.

 

Do you have any data connection on the device - mobile data or wifi?   That would need to be set up first so that the connection could be made.  Is it as obvious as that?

HTC provides an automatic backup service, among other things.

Yes they do, but you can set that up later.   I'd simply keep trying as it may be an issue at HTC's end.  I used HTC backup only a couple of days ago, so I can confirm that it was working then.
