Nexus 6 Crashing

Hello,

I bought a new Nexus 6 phone on monthly contract around January this year. I love it and it's a good phone. However, since the day I got it, it will sometimes randomly just turn off. It seems to have no pattern at all to the problem, sometimes it will be weeks before it happens again and sometimes it will keep turning off multiple times in a row (after I put it back on). I was assured that it was a software, not hardware bug, so didn't exchange the phone. Several updates later and it still does it. It's most annoying because sometimes when it turns off it does other things, like forgetting all the wifi passwords I have stored, deleting all my saved spotify music (so I have to redownload over 2000 songs), etc. What can I get done about this as it's gotten to the point where I'm just too fed up with it now to put up with it.

Hi

You should be able to get this via speaking to Vodafone on 191 or use Live Chat.

Current Phone  >

Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512gb.

Ok thanks, i'll try to get in contact with them then!

It's funny this should come up, my Nexus 6 is roughly 6 months old, got it on Vodafone release day.

I've never had an issue until today, during the evening it just turns it self off, no actual pattern as such, but I also notice I don't have a lot of signal.

Anyway I'm hoping its a software issue, like a dodgy app update or something, my point is, try a reset first, and see how it goes, rather than end up with a recon phone that you'll find will have the same fault.

I've likewise had one since release, and never experienced this. Not intending to gloat, just it doesn't seem to be and "all phones" issue, so it's more likely to be a software conflict (so reset should resolve) or a hardware fault (especially for if it persisted since day 1). Definitely wouldn't recommend a "wait and see", because there's nothing universal causing this that's prompt a speedy patch.

My phone(s) has the same problem, I've had it shut down in the camera, the first time it did it I was trying the lense blur feature, it turned of so I re booted and tried the same feature with exactly the same result, it didn't happen again for a few months then it did it again with standard use of the camera and that happened about 10 times in a row! I also noticed a static interference sound from the top speaker when the battery was low. It was sent of for repair and replaced with a new hand set and this new one is exhibiting the same fault. Very annoying.

Hi there

Silly question but have you tried a factory reset of the device?  Does that help at all?

Low signal does cause more power to be drawn from the battery as the MODEM is hunting for a better signal, it shouldn't cause it to shut down though! However it is a new technology on the 6 so it could have a few bugs, I think the LG 3G has the same tech so it would be interesting to see if that phone has the same issues. It seems like a hardware issue to me, intermittent as heck tho so it's hard to pin down.
