No 2G toggle still after ios8.1 upgrade

Hello,

Following the recent ios 8.1 upgrade the toggle to disable 3g/ enable 2g or edge should be visable, but it is not.

I had this option on my iphone 5 using the same vodafone simcard so maybe its not a vodafone issue but an apple issue.

I spoke with Apple and they are saying to speak to my carrier.

Any help please?

Its really useful to disable 3G when in a poor network coverage area.

Thanks! :Smiling:

I'm even more confused now.

I updated an iPhone 5 (on Vodafone) to iOS 8.1.2 (from 7), and hey presto, the full options are there for 2G/3G and 4G.....

(this was done connected to iTunes vs OTA...not sure if that makes a difference?)

So what I can say is that this IS available on VodafoneUK, on 8.1.2....is is only an issue with iPhone 6??

Has anyone tried a full recovery/update with iTunes of 8.1.2? (it didn't work on my iPhone 6)

Seems that Apple are pointing the issue to be with the Carrier, and the Carrier is pointing at Apple, and we're stuck in the middle without a solution

Jailbreaking will remove all of he securty features that Apple have built in the ios software.

By jailbreaking you leave yourself open to viriuses and other malware that infects android phones.

Also should you have a problem with your phone Apple will not offer any help if the device has been jailbroken.

Just checked mine today after upgrading to iOS 8.3 & Apple have enable the toggle! Apparently they have taken the decision to show it, out of the hands of operators. Now I can chose 2g and stop killing my battery.

Here in Thailand all the networks have retained the 2G toggle thoughout the entire fracas of UK networks blaming Apple, when all along the decision to remove the toggle was the networks'
But then over here in Thailand and Asia in general the networks are more customer service minded. decision.
