Hi @Mist88
If you opted into World Traveller before leaving the UK, you will be able to use your UK allowance when roaming in South Africa for an extra charge of £5.00 per day.
You can try roaming on an atlernative network, and see if you can get a connection.
Otherwise, it could be there is a roaming or restriction bar which needs to be removed by contacting Customer Services in the UK. You can find how to contact Vodafone from the link below.

Hello @Mist88
Can I assume that Service was fine before?
Are you able you check by using any available network checker if it's the network itself at issue where you Are in regards to masts.
Sometimes manually choosing another network in the phones settings can help and switch back if necessary.
Can you try an alternative phone to insert your sim card in just incase the phone has developed a fault. Try another sim card in the phone if it's unlocked to all networks.
You could try contacting customer services using Live Chat or customer service on +44 7836 191 191 from abroad (free from a Vodafone mobile) They'll be able to see if any bars have accidentally applied.
Alternatively again if your phone is unlocked use a local sim card in the phone in the interim.
Unfortunately Vodafone Uk wouldn't be able to guarantee service on a foreign network as they understandably have no direct control over the network there.

Hi @Mist88
Thanks for getting in touch. We'd love to help.
We'll need to check your account, to make sure there are no restrictions.
Please follow the steps that I've sent to you in a private message, to get in touch.
However, as @BandOfBrothers has mentioned, we're unable to guarantee that you can use a local network whilst roaming.
Thanks,
