No voice service / not allowed mm#6

Hiya,

Just recieved my blackberry z10 this morning, it was an upgrade from my 9300 so had to fill out the sim swap/activation form. Couple of hours later, sim in the old blackberry stopped working. I can access the interent with the z10 (with or without wifi) but can not call/txt etc. The message displayed on my home page under the signal meter is 'no voice service - not allowed MM#6' I have talked to vodafone via webchat and they just told be to manually change the network every couple of hours and it should be fine within 24 hrs. Not convinced as data is working fine. A little bit frustrating that i'm left without a phone over the weeked, had I known it would take this much time I would have waited.

Hi Kay

I just got an Xperia L as an upgrade on my monthly contract and I have the "Phone not Allowed MM#6" issue, can you please advise? I have already been to a Vodafone store and they gave me a new sim which doesn't appear to have changed anything.

Many thanks!

Its highly unlikely that Vodafone would intentionally send you a blocked phone but if the phone was provided as part of an ugrade and you are in the first 7 working day exchange period, you need to contact Vodafone and get the phone replaced.

Either way, you still need to contact Customer Services for help and advise or wait for a reply from the Tech Team.

When I had my issue, someone in the call centre told me they always send out blocked phones, then unblock them when you activate the sims! It didn't sound right to me. I went into the shop and they gave me a new phone, so might be worth going back! All they could do over the phone for me was try and unblock it multiple times which left me without a phone for 2/3 days because everytime they unblocked it, it could take up to 24 hours!!

Well I contacted Vodafone the day after I recieved the phone as you said and I was told that sometimes these things happen and that I should get a new sim as my old one just may not be compatable any longer. They said they were going to send one out and I ended up waiting for over a week for a sim card that never turned up, thus taking me out of the 7 working day grace period.

I went out at midday to a Vodafone store and got a new sim in.

What would you advise now?
