Not getting correct Download Speeds

Hi,

I am not getting download speeds that I was guaranteed (or even expecting).

Min DL: 54.95
Max DL: 73.74
Min UL: 17.96
Max UL: 20
Min Guaranteed: 48.3

To be honest I expected a faster service than minimum speed (which I am not even reaching) seems I am paying for upto 76Mbps anyway.

Screenshots of speedtests run follow.

I contacted support. They told me that I was getting my minimum speed of 48.3 Mbps. I am not. I have never gotten above 46 Mbps even in off quieter periods.

What can I do about this?

@Lifeshield - you need to check your connection speed.  Log onto the router and find out what the download and upload speeds are.  If these speeds are not consistent with your minimum guarenteed speed, then you should raise a complaint.

Your actual download speeds (as found when your run a speed checker) will often be 10% lower to account for 'overheads' in the networking protocols.

I don't think Vodafone particular help themselves as I think the speeds they quote are the connection speeds and not the download/throughput speeds

Hi, I just wanted to add my two-penn'orth about speeds.

Mine was activated nearly a year ago, and while it's quite stable, according to the router interface my current download speed on my up to 76mbps line (with a guaranteed minimum of 45mbps) has been resolutely stuck on 44mbps for the past few months. (Upload is also 17.6 out of a possible 20. It's been higher - up to 19.5 at times, but not in the past few months.)

Whilst that's only 1mbps below the guaranteed minimum, it IS nonethless below that guaranteed minimum, which is quite annoying - particularly as the monthly cost was increased by £2 to £30 just last month.

I've not made any direct enquiries about whether it can be turned up yet, but intend to soon.

So I got a call from them last night. The guy I spoke to felt it was poor enough to be escalated as when he tested I was getting speeds as low as 35Mbps. Then got another call today from a different guy who basically went on to tell me my guaranteed minimum download speed is based of the connection to the router and not the device it connects to.

What a load of rubbish.

All he was interested in was telling me how wrong I am and that having under minimum guaranteed speed was fine. Like I expect if I am paying for 76Mbps then I at least see something more along those speeds. After all that's the lie this company sells their broadband on right?

Absolutely disgraceful service. I absolutely canot believe Vodafone think they can get away with this.

Not seeing a penny from me until it's sorted. Plain and simple.

Hi @SomersetBob

You should definitely be getting the guaranteed speeds when you're connected directly to the router.

If you're below this, please speak to the Broadband Live Chat team so they can take a look into what's happening with your speeds.

Thanks Carly - I'll definitely follow up on your suggestion :Smiling:
