Pairing and Broadband App

Hi all just downloaded the Broadband App and am connected via WiFi to the router. As I have a connection to the router I don't understand why I need to go through Pairing. The app just simply prevents me from progressing unless I do it.

Not really wanting to climb on top of cabinets to.press a button so can someone help me understand why this required when already connected?

I hace tried a few times to pair the app with the router. You can initiate the pairing process from the router page and I used this successfully to pair with a wifi printer but the phone app just won't have it.

Just tried again but this time pressed the button on the side of the router rather than starting pairing from the router page.  That worked.

Good to hear it works, however I still don't understand the reason why it is necessary.
