Phone not charging, help!

Hello

I really need some help, my samsung galaxy s4 won't charge and I really don't have the money to pay to get it looked at.

The screen smashed a few months ago but it was still working absolutely fine. It has not come into contact with water.

When I try to charge it nothing comes up on the screen to say it is charging, the LED indicator doesn't light up and the phone gets hot. I am not sure if the problem is the battery or the charging port. If it is the charging port then I really need some help as I have pictures on the phone that are very valuable to me and I simply cant lose them, but if charging port is broken how will I get them onto my computer?

I have been a Vodafone customer ever since I was given my first mobile phone and hopefully my loyalty will mean you'll helpas much as possible.

Thanks

Kirstie

Hi, have you tried a new charger? Or you mention the battery, can you get access to a new one?

Are you sure the pictures you want are on the phone? Not the memory card? I set my phone to save all photos to my external SD card, this can be removed and put in an adaptor and then read on my computer.

Hi,

Thanks for replying

I have tried a couple of chargers and none of them work, have left them in for about 20 minutes but the phone gets so hot I worry that it could do worse damage.

I don't have access to another battery.

I don't have an external memory card in my phone, all pictures automatically save to the phone and then I transfer them to my laptop when the phone is full.

Thanks again

Kirstie

I hate to say this, but it sounds as though there's a serious problem here and the smashed screen is probably at the root of it.   The screen is part of the structure of the phone and gives it rigidity.   It's likely that it's flexed and tne circuitry has got damaged.   In that case, a repair is the only option and, because of the damage, it won't be done under warranty, either by Vodafone or Samsung.   You could get a quote, but the cheapest option might be to buy something basic, like one of the Vodafone Smart range or a Moto G (or E).

I fear the photos are lost.   It's no help now, but for the future it's worth setting them to back up automatically to a cloud account (only over wifi if you want to save on mobile data), such Google+ or Dropbox.

I was worried that the answer would be something along those lines :smileysad:

I think my contents insurance may cover this but I have no idea what info I need, I will call them tomorrow.

Totally cant afford any form of replacement right now, but thank you for the advice
