Planned Roll Out Of 3g / 3g+ - Rural Areas

Alan R
Not applicable
With Digital Britain published and all number of telecom companies vying for the best reception in the North, South, East and West (of London) when will the mobile companies start to invest into the more rural areas of the country to support us countryside dwellers!

For the Administrators - My postcode is CB7 5YQ. I receive GPRS signals (some of the time), yet only 5 miles down the road in any direction I can get 3G / 3G+.

As I live over 6 miles from the BT exchange I cannot even get dial up yet alone broadband. Therefore, I am restricted to mobile signals (such that they are) to communicate. It is painfully slow, yet it does allow emails - soooo important for the wife..

Updates to the computer in most cases take overnight, although I have had one that took up to 72 hours to download.

I would love to be able to share things with my friends, and skype and all that - but I am no way near the transfer rate criteria..

Do you have any projections to improve the service near me ( which includes a National Trust site) for the forseeable future???

Many Thanks

Al

Hi Alan R

Thanks for the post, I having just returned from the middle of nowhere over the New Year, I know how important it can be to get a decent signal.

I'm going to send an email to you so I can get some details.

Once I've got your reply, a coverage enhancement request can be started.

I'll be totally honest though, there's no guarantee that it will get better (there's no harm in trying though ;) )

I've also checked the coverage map and as it stands there aren't any plans to improve the coverage where you are in the immediate future.

Many Thanks
