Mobile Connect Access Problems K3565

Hi Vodafone people,

I bought a K3565 dongle a few days ago on a prepaid plan which should give me unlimited internet access for a week. It worked fine for one day and then for seemingly no reason, although the software said it was still connected to a 3G service, there was no access to the internet. I can only presume that something has changed and the internet is local only, or perhaps there is an IP address issue? I am running Vista on a fairly new Lenovo, and have no idea what to do now.

I have tried:
Restarting the computer (many times)
Reinstalling the software (many times)
Installing various other versions of the software from the Vodafone website
System restore to a point before the problem happened (in case it was a Windows Update issue)
Finding the info files Mobile Connect stores about my usage even after uninstalling the software, and deleting them.

None of these have worked and I am now at the end of my tether.

To complicate matters I am using a British-registered computer in Spain, using a dongle/SIM card bought in Spain (on Vodafone Espana) and the software keeps trying to revert to Vodafone UK - as I said it worked fine for a day, so I think this is a different issue, but it certainly doesn't help!

Please, please help!!

Hi Dazedandconfused,

Just to confirm, the modem successfully makes a connection, but then you're unable to browse the internet? What error messages do you get?

I'd ideally like to check things account-side and network-side, but since this is not a UK SIM card, that's not going to be possible unfortunately :(

The hardware and software used also differs for each regional operator, so our ability to help here will be limited.

Have you tried contacting Vodafone Spain for support with this issue?

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the reply:

Yes, that's right - I don't get any error messages as the software appears to believe I am connected - I have no problems getting online with my wireless adaptor. The problem just seemed to appear out of thin air. I wondered if it was a recognised problem with a Windows Update, but then restoring the system made no difference.

Both hardware and software (except the SIM card) appear to be exactly the same as UK ones - the software automatically loaded in English without me asking it to and is the same version as that supplied with UK dongles (according to the Vodafone website).

My level of Spanish simply isn't good enough to have a complex technical conversation with someone over the phone, and I have little faith in the teenagers in the shop I bought it from. .

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Desperately,

Sorry - my fault for not being more specific. What error message do you see in your web browser when trying to load pages?
