I am looking at getting the Pay As You Go mobile broadband so that i can use it when i go away on holiday.

1. i was looking at the coverage map in the area where i am going but it only has Standard Services coverage. can i still use the Mobile Broadband?

2. How do you add more GB's on to the dongle. Is it using a top up card like a mobile phone? can i top up in any shop that does mobile phone topups or just vodafone stores?

3. Does it work with a Asus EEE PC 701SD Linux?

Hi there Micro,

Welcome to the Vodafone eForum, we are a friendly bunch and a very knowledgeable lot too.

If you have a GPRS signal, you will still connect to the internet, however the speeds will be dramatically reduced and it won’t be at broadband speeds.

You can also top up the mobile broadband via your credit card or indeed via a voucher in store.

You will indeed be able to use the modem with Linux, however you will need to download the drivers from www.betavine.co.uk

If you need anything else please let me know and I will be happy to help you.

Thanks

Matt

Thanks for that I am happy i can take my netbook away instead of my large XP laptop :)

Now long does it take for the 1GB to expire? some websites say it stays forever others say 180 days or 270 days.

Hi Micro,

As long as keep using it at least once every six months then the number allocated to your Netbook together with your credit will never expire before you've used it.

To get an idea of what you'll be able to do with your 1GB take a look at our Data Calculator here.

Thanks,

Lee

yeah it took me some time to find it.
the installer instructions are very good for people who have no linux experience.

i have installed the software and i am getting the dongle tomorrow

when i talked to the people in the Vodafone shop they said that I have to use it every 3 months not 6 months. Is this true?
