R101 sharing hub doesn't connect using UK Pay as you go sim with K3570-Z Dongle that came with it

Dear All,

 

Last weekend I bought the R101 sharing hub and found that it does not connect when using a UK Pay as you go sim but does connect when using a monthly contract sim

I have tried the following

1. UK Pay as you go sim with UK K3570-Z dongle directly on laptop = ok

2. UK Contract sim with UK K3570-Z dongle directly on laptop = ok

3. UK Pay as you go sim with UK K3570-Z dongle on R101 Sharing Hub = Doesn't connect

4. UK Contract sim with UK K3570-Z dongle on R101 Sharing Hub = ok.

 

I did not manage to find any setting for the Sharing Hub that allows me to specify if the sim is a pay as you go or a contract sim.

I did not see anywhere something to indicate that the Sharing Hub only works with a contract sim.

 

I have gone through the advanced setup document two or three times very very thoroughly and have not found anything to help.

 

Please help.

I found the following message that gave instruction on how to solve the problem.

 

ppbundle.internet

 

Basically I changed the settings so that instead of going for an "internet" connection it is going for a "ppbundle.internet" connection instead. 

 

I shut down and restarted the hub and it then connected.

Thanks to this thread and the other I am now up and running.

 

I bought a sharing hub to work with my PAYG Dongle whilst I move house and await broadband connection.

 

Set to ppbundle works a treat after a reboot of the sharing hub (using a K3565 rev 2).

 

However I spent twenty minutes on the phone to vodafone support today who told me to send the sharing hub back as it was a faulty device.

 

When I found this forum and the answer that worked perfectly.

 

Thumbs up for the help, now to discover time travel and get my twenty minute phone call back :Smiley_with_tongue_out:
