Recived unock code for Nokia 108 but email had missing instructions. How do I imput code to unlock?

Have a pay as you go Vodafone SIM in Nokia 108. Applied for unlock code which I eventually recieved after 3 weeks. However the instructions are incomplete. I have tried with original SIM, no SIM and new SIM but no obvious way to input NUC code, no instructions come up, only message is when new SIM is in that it is an incorrrect SIM.

Please help

Phones have different ways sometimes of inputting the unlocking code. 

Some you insert the active Non Vodafone Sim card and that invokes a pop up box you then key the code into. 

Some you go into the phones settings and there is a section there you use to key in the code. 

Others you first key in a set code that instructs the phone to make the pop up box appear to then key in the code. 

A Google search shows this on one site that also advises a person has 3 tries to key in a code. 

"Follow these 5 steps to make your Nokia 108 network free

1. Turn on the phone without any sim card

2. Enter the following sequence (#pw+unlock code+1#) on your NOKIA 108 just like a phone number*

* Characters p, w, + will appear after pressing the *(star) symbol a couple of times

4. Press # at the end to confirm the code

5. Message "SIM restriction OFF" should appear.

Your Nokia 108 is now unlocked !!!"

If the above does not work then I'd suggest to contact Vodafone Customer Services for further clarification and perhaps Google too.
