Remove carrier from notification bar?

After the update today the carrier name 'vodafone UK' is displayed on the top left when the screen is locked. This is hiding any notifications that I receive and means I cannot see what is there unless I unlock the phone.

Might seem pernickety, however some notifications I don’t bother checking whilst other are urgent and I will unlock the phone for.

Anyone able to help?

Hi @tintin82,

A feature of Android 5.0 is that notifications now appear in more detail on the lock screen itself. Therefore, there's no need for them to show at the top, whilst the screen is locked.

Thanks for answering my query Matt, much appriciated. 

The notifications were not enabled, however once enabled in the settings they stated to appear in more detail on the lock screen as you pointed out.

What if you don't wont the notifications showing up on the lock screen. I have it switched off so notifications don't show on lock screen but i would like to see them in the notification bar. How do i get that back.
