In USA - roaming worked om Florida and Georgia ..... but South Dakota is in another universe !!
Now I am in South Dakota I am stuck with a phone that is as much use as a paper-weight.
Everyone else here seems to to connect to AT&T while roaming - but my Vodafone can't even find it, let alonf connect to it.
Still - saves on the fiver a day charge Vodofone would swipe if I could use my phone.
Disgruntled.

I can feel your frustration @qsecofr
May I ask have you carried out the usual generic self help of manually switching networks etc.
A person can use Live Chat to speak with Customer service to have their account checked.

Manual network selection finds no networks - yet next to me someone is using AT&T !!!!
Vodafone live chat was asleep at the time ...... will try later

That sounds like a physical problem with the handset itself if you're doing network searches and not seeing any networks populate in the list.

Thank you for trying my suggestion to manually search for another network @qsecofr
I'm leaning towards agreeing with @donnyguy that it appears to be a hardware issue. Can you try your sim in your friends phone or another available phone as a process of elimination.

Hi @qsecofr
If there was a restriction on your account, it would prevent you from connecting to any network and incurring any further charges.
If you have been unable to contact Vodafone, the best thing to do is to wait for one of the Team to get to the thread, they will be able to check your account.

@qsecofr So we're able to check on your account from our end and see if there's anything stopping you from accessing the network, please contact us using the private message I've sent.

What handset are you using? Is it a quad-band phone, or just tri-band?
There has been a major shift in the frequencies used by the US networks, and tri-band phones simply don't work any longer in some parts of the US, although my experience doesn't extend as far as South Dakota.
My husband and I have run into this problem with increasing frequency in recent years. I've had a 4-band phone for some time, and the range of networks I could see when scanning increased steadily, although a number of them threw me off if I attempted to connect. At the same time the number of networks available to my OH with his 3-band phone fell steadily, and the problem reached crisis point in NC, when he failed to find any network when he needed to summon me to collect him from a business meeting - and none of the Americans present could call an overseas number!
I've just had a look at the Vodafone Shop, and am amazed at the extent to which regional network support doesn't rate a mention in the spec - yet increasingly you need 4-band to roam in the Americas.

I spent an EXTREMELY frustrating over 2 hours on the online chat to Vodofone support who in the end decided that they could not understand the problem and could not help me.
I have now returned from South Dakota to Georgia where ALL OF A SUDDEN the phone works again and I can use it (roaming) on the cell-phone network.
So not a very staisfactory experience with Vodafone support.
By the way, the phone also works in Florida and Alabama ..... just not in South Dakota or Wyoming.

@qsecofr Glad you're back on air! You don't mention the frequency ranges your phone can cope with, but, if it's tri-band, you should be prepared for other areas in which it simply won't work.
