S4 fw upgrade has wrecked phone

S4 GT-I9505

Fw was on 4.4.2 I think, not ran any updates for a while, when i did a few days back, it said an update was available and so I let it do its thing... has now upgraded to 5.0.1.

Now the mic is not working at all when making any calls, and battery life is criminal, it literally goes from 100% to flat while just sat not in use, in about 5hrs...

Mic records fine when taking video, and works when making calls on speaker, but wont work on basic calls, also wont record anything in voice recorder app..

Basically the OTA update has made the phone unusable as a phone as the main mic now doesnt work.

Have googled this and found literally dozens of results of other having had this issue with 5.0.1 on Galaxy and Nexus...

Have done a factory reset and still the same.

Who do I contact about getting this sorted as its hardly usable and am still got 6mths left on the contract??

Vodafone or Samsung??

Thanks.

Hi,

A Factory Reset or Hard Reset is the usual advice to clear out old redundant files from performing a Software Update. I see you have performed a Factory Reset. It maybe worth trying a Hard Reset. Remember to make a Back Up to preserve any Data you wish to retain from the phones memory.

If this does not help then I woukd recommend speaking to Samsung Uk Support about the status of your phone. They provide a 24 Month Warranty for the phone and 12 months on a battery.

Also look at Samsung Service Centre Locations.

The issues may not be connected to the update you carried out.

OS updates can be pretty resource-intensive.   Personally, I always do two things before I start: clear recent apps and restart the phone.   This puts it in as clean a state as possible and gives it maximum resources.   If updating has caused problems, a factory reset is the first thing to try.  It would be part of any repair process, so you won't have lost anything as long as you've backed up your data.   If you have an external sd card, take it out as the process sometimes formats them.
