Hi all,
I've just upgraded my S4 to an S6 Edge+ (64gb).
Happy with the phone apart from some of the Push notifications are not working.
Facebook seems to notify when there is a new post or comments, however, when someone "likes" something, I don't get notified.
Also, the Flickr app doesn't seem to notify at all.
I have checked all the notification and individual app settings and all are setup correctly. I know there was an issue originally with IPv6 and WiFi, however, the issue occurs on any WiFi (IPv6 or not) and also off WiFi.
Email notifications (POP and Exchange) seem to work just fine.
Has anyone else got these issues?
Many thanks
Craig

Hi there
I have the S6 and don't have the issues that you describe. As you are getting emails and it only seems to be those apps that aren't working correctly, I would be inclined to say that the issue lies with those apps and not the handset in general.
Have you tried clearing the cache and data from the apps, removing them and reinstalling them? That may help to clear any glitches you have.

Hi, thanks for the reply, but yes, I have cleared all the data and cache. I have even factory reset the handset.
The issues remain.
I was thinking maybe it's the apps, but now I also notice that another push notification isn't working for another app.
I use Pingdom which is a website monitoring tool. The App uses push notifications in the event of an issue.
I have tested this and I don't get the notified from this App either. So I'm beginning to think this is an OS issue.

I have the S6 Edge and don't have the same issues you describe. What version of Android is the handset running?

I'm also on 5.1.1 with the LMY47X build. So we should be having the same issues.
There is something in those particular apps that isn't working properly. Exactly what, I have no idea. It is odd that it affects only certain apps - that kinda indicates to me that those apps have something in common that is stopping them from working properly.

...an update!
It does seem as though there is a general issue with Push Notifications (which the internet does seem to be full of similar reports in the past).
I don't use GMail, but thought I'd set it up and send myself some emails. Guess what? There are no Push notifications for GMail working either. If I go into the GMail app, they then appear.
Of course, my POP3 email doesn't use Push, however, my corporate exchange Push does work, but it seems that this is the only Push notification working.
I actually just looked in the eBay App and yep there is a notification in there unread as it didn't Push notify me.
I'm wondering if it's something to do with the phone being a unlocked phone from the Carphone Warehouse rather than a Voda provided one. I'm on a SIM only contract with Voda. When I did power the phone up from new, it did download a new(er) build which I assumed was a Voda build.
As you can imagine, I paid a lot of money for this SIM free handset and it's getting a bit frustrating that it's not working.
As a check, I'm doing another factory reset, but not attaching to my corporate exhange account as I'm thinking that there may be an issue with the adopted security profile downloaded causing these issues.
I'll report back.

I also bought my Edge SIM free but from another retailer and not CPW.
If a factory reset doesn't help and you still aren't happy with the way your phone is working, you can contact CPW about it and let them have a look at the device. They will be able to advise if there is a fault and if a repair is needed.

That is quite the list of apps.
If you do work out what is causing the issue and how it gets resolved, would you mind letting us know - the info could really help someone else out.
