I have also posted this in 'the lounge' section. BBC1's Watchdog programme tonight reported on this problem. Anyone affected should either watch it on the BBC iPlayer.

BBC Watchdog tonight on BBC1 are doing a report on overheating phone batteries. If you miss it you can watch it on the iPlayer. Should be interesting.

Just taken mine back to Vodafone to be sent back to Samsung.

When turned on but not in use / in my pocket it can get so hot you feel the heat through your cloths. It get so hot you can hardly hold it.

Hi @Peteboo and welcome to the eForum,

I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’ve had here.

So that we can take a look at this for you, get in touch with us here.

Thanks,

Wayne

The way I saw it was that it's Samsung that are responsible here, not the service provider youre using. Advice  I  would be inclined to give to anyone experiencing this problem is to cut out the middle man (service provider) and go straight to Samsung, you'll probably get a better, quicker service with a lot less hassle.

Hi Wayne, I took the phone to Vodafone Taunton who I think are sending it back to Samsung for repair / replacement. In the meantime I have a very cheap loan phone that doe not even have wifi, hope I'm not being charged on my contract whilst my phone is away.

Wayne tec support, followed your link and sent a message as requested and just had a message from Vodafone saying that e mail address is not used anymore. What's going on ???

We don’t use this email address anymore, so our advisers won’t get your message. Don’t worry, you can carry on your conversation with an adviser online – they’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Any previous email discussions regarding your query are saved, so we can refer back to them should the need arise.

You need to put the routing code (it looks like ABC123) with nothing else and no spaces in the subject box.   If you don't do that, your message isn't directed correctly and you get the response you have.

I'd probably be inclined to go direct to Samsung on this as they have it pegged as a known issue.  Anything sent to Vodafone is likely to be passed back to them, just adding a middleman to the timescale.

The Watchdog piece mentioned people putting their phones on something soft, like a bed.   It's generally not a good idea to put anything that's charging onto a soft surface due to possible oveheating issues (if only due to the insulation factor).   A hard surface will conduct heat away for longer and is less likely to catch fire.

Hi @Peteboo

You need to make sure WRT165 (with no spaces or extra characters) is in the subject line so that the email comes to us.

Thanks,
