I was so close to buying the Note too @DRUIDDOODE

In essence the battery was too large and as such caused stress on it.

Now Samsung have an improved 8 point battery testing procedure which I'm sure will help. Link > 8 Point Battery Testing Process.

Have you seen the new Note Fe (Fan Edition) which is made using unused parts from the Note 7 line with a smaller battery.

Yes from the pics I've seen it looks excellent and I think in think  imo

A future collectors item depending upon sales

But I would of thought if they're using the old or reconditioned or what was left over then there will be limited supply.and due to that I would bet that it will gain in value especially if the box and stuff is kept clean

A lot of people there huge collectors markets especially for limited runs of products

What taught me about collecting certain goods is guitars

If you bought a 1959 Gibson les Paul that year for  £400

As an example Kirk Hamnet of Metallica as just bought Gary Moore's old 59 for a reported $2 million you can had no a few quid for it's provenance

But if you found one in your loft you would get £750.000 all day long

Obviously the note is nothing on that scale

But due to its uniqueness I believe will be a collectors dream

Sorry I went off on one here

but guitars are a guaranteed pension plan as the most desirable instruments if bought new hold there price and as they age and sound better.
