The sig strength indicator on my Xperia XZ phone does not improve with suresignal up. Is this correct? Seems to me the phone. Should show good sig strength with Suresignal.

The Sure Signal kicks out a 3g signal for the phone to connect to.
I'm wondering if your phone is conne ting to the Vodafone network instead of the sure signal.

Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512gb.

Hi, thanks. I presume that the phone would automatically seek and attach to the cell with best signal, so I would expect conversation with suresignal (ss) rather than the local cell, which is poor, and this is why the ss is here in the first place. Normally I would expect to see say four bars on the sig strength indicator in the phone, when I am close to a cell, but don't see this with the ss. Therefore either the phone for reasons unknown is no showing strength or the Ss is not working. I am asking.. do people with ok Ss setups see a 4bar sig strength on their phone, or not.
Phew!

@JimMcDonald - Is your phone working ok when in range of your Sure Signal (making and receiving calls and also sending texts)?
If so this shows your Sure Signal is working ok, if not please follow the steps from our Sure Signal troubleshooting guide.

On approaching the SS with the phone, there is no sign of signal strength. The SS appears to be working etc.., with all lights correctly lit. THe phone is set to 3G, in other words all is set up ok, but there is no comm between the phone and the SS.Phone is new Xperia XZ, Broadband is fiber, nominally 30Mb. Two Phones are listed in the SS and both have the same problem. Commonly the local service is so poor that that and the SS together are such that the phone reports that cell service is not available.

@JimMcDonald - Thanks for those details.
Your IP address is on our whitelist and it’s showing your Sure Signal has last made contact with the network, at 2.38pm yesterday.
I hope everything is working ok now.
If not, please let us know the exact light sequence you’re getting, including which colour lights.

Hello - thanks for the response.
The light sequence is :
Light 1 - slow flash
lights 1&2 steady
light 3 steady when call in progress.
The problem now is the range of the unit.
* at about 20 yards direct line of sight, 75-100% sig strength on phone, when it is the olny one connected.
* within 4 yards, 100% sig strength on phone.
*about 40 yards, which is where we would normally call (in living area) sig strength ~ zero.
The conclusion therefore is that we should if possible either increase the power of the SS or move it further from the router, which has to be close to the incloming fibre line. I will experiment and let you know. Thanks again
Jim

Hello Gemma. I think I've solved the problem
Here is the process I followed:
1.Approach the suresignal when near incoming ADSL port when running, to within a couple of yards and check sign strength on phone. Should be 100% (say 4 bars) showing the SS is running ok, and talking to the phone.
2.Using Powerline pair, plug suresignal into Powerline point where you most need service.
3.Checking with the phone should now show 100% sig strength where previously there was none.
4.Plug through WLAN range extender to check if SS is interfering with WLAN radio.
I found this ok, although there is limitation as the SS cannot reach everywhere in the house,
i hope this is useful to others.
Best regards. Jim
