Hi
Is the Mobile Data toggle setting turned on in the phones settings ?
User Manual. Possibly Page 29.

If you get stuck a Vodafone Highstreet Store will be able to help too.

I turn it on but it turns it self off again.
What I mean is I turn it on, go to my home screen to go on the internet, it wont load, message says data is turned off, so I go back to settings and it is off.

Unless there is some form of settings to make that happen the phone shouldn't do that.
I would create a back up and perform a factory reset.
And or visit a Vodafone shop.

That's for the configuration settings i.e. APN's
If your able to connect to the Internet via Vodafone's data then it sounds like the phone itself is somehow disconnecting.

Just to add.
The Apn settings for android are :
Please pay attention to the specific ones for Payg and Pay monthly.
From the home screen:
Tap the Menu button
Tap Settings
Tap Wireless and networks or More... (depending on your version of Android)
Tap Mobile Networks
Tap Access point names
Tap the Menu button
Tap New APN
Enter the following data into the onscreen form, without changing any other settings;
Name - Vodafone Internet
APN - internet (PAYG - pp.vodafone.co.uk)
Username - web (PAYG - wap)
Password - web (PAYG - wap)
MMSC - http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy - 212.183.137.12
MMS Port - 8799
Authentication type - PAP
APN type - If given a choice, select internet+mms, if the keyboard appears enter *
(As a check, the image below shows blue text in the fields you should have completed)
Tap the Menu button
Tap Save
Enable the newly-added APN by ensuring the line is ticked, or the radio button is lit by tapping on it
Check the notification bar for 4G, H, 3G, E or G with up and down arrows beside it, which will indicate your connection is working

I did the above but still no internet.
What I have noticed is that when I go into settings, data uasage, the mobile data slider slides to on, without me doing anything, when I come out and go back it does the same.
So its off all the time untill I go into data usage then it switches it self on
Its hard to explain without seeing it, I hope you understand.

Yes I understand and it must be frustrating.
Can you get to a Vodafone Shop ?
Process of elimination: Can you try you're Sim card in another phone to rule out either the Sim or Account or Phone which may be at fault. Also if you can try another Sim Card in your phone.
A last resort maybe to create a back up and factory reset in the phones settings.
