Speedtest reported speeds

Hi all,

I seem to be having very slow connection speeds with Vodafone broadband. Have done continuous speed tests throughout the month and the highest speed I've recorded has been 623 in/s. With lows of 34 kb/s and an average of about 400.
When I speak to Vodafone they advised I am getting n average 5 mb/s.

I feel more inclined to believe speedtest as it takes forever to load anything (a few mins to start a Netflix show etc). However how can I be told 2 different speeds like this?

Thanks

Hi,

May I ask how long your service has been activated?

Are you hard wired or using wifi ?

I do not use the Vodafone Broadband Service but when I was having some issues with mine I found if using a Wifi connection then changing wireless channel helped.

And splitting my frequencies to 2.4ghz and 5ghz and choosing 2.4ghz to connect to.

My my friend was having issues using a wired connection so he swapped out the Ethernet cable.

It's slow with both wired and wireless. With multiple cables and various channels etc.

Right now I'm experiencing 34 kbs speeds, which is insane. I called technical support the other day, who were supposed to be calling me back but never did, who advised I was getting an average 6 mbs, which has gone down to 5 recently. I don't understand how our results can be so different.

I use BT Infinity.

When I've used Bt's own checking software compared to Ookla Speedtest which is the speed Checker I regularly use the results can differ.

It's disappointing they haven't contacted you back.

@Russles Can you try runing the BTW Performance test http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/

Once the test completes there is an option to perform Further Diagnostics.

If you do this and post back a screenshot of the resulting page it may give us a little more information about any issues that may be present on the line.
