Stop Annoying Autoplay On Vista?

eclipsechaser
Not applicable
This is on vista :

So yesterday I plugged in my new mobile broadband dongle. Worked fine. The usb autoran setup_vmc_lite.exe and installed the software.

However now everytime I plug in the dongle an autoplay window opens and asks me if I want to run setup_vmc_lite.exe. It also loads the vodafone software on my laptop and loads this in another window.

So this is kind of annoying me. Does anyone know how to stop the auto play running each time for this usb dongle?

Hi eclipsechaser,

First of all welcome tot he Vodafone eForum. It's cool to see yet another new dongle user ;)

If your system is recognising the USB modem as a storage device on autorun, it will be a configuration setting in the computer itself. To be honest, we're not allowed to directly support changes to your Vista OS as we are not licenced by Microsoft to do so in any official capacity. That being said, consulting with your control panel from the Start menu is the place to go to configure such settings :)

Bear in mind though that if you are amending settings for the USB port, that this could effect how the driver works in future with either other devices or recognising the storage device feature. I can't stop fellow posters from giving tips or instructions mind so hopefully somebody who experienced a similar issue with Vista can post their views!
