Sure Signal Problem

Hi

 

I hope you can help me because I am at my wits end with the SureSignal

 

I purchased this in August and from day 1 had constant problems with the device working for a few mins/hours then going down for a few hours then coming back up.  I would get a variety of different light variations.

 

Despite numerous phone calls to the Vodafone helpdesk it was not fixed and I just accepted that sometimes it would work and others it wouldn't

 

However for all of today it has simply has the red power light on constantly.  Not flashing

 

I really need to get this working.  Can you help me please ?

Hi, please can you supply speed test and tracert results.

Also please can you advise who your isp is and what router you are using including any manual config you may have programmed into the router.

The ping is 28ms, download is 9.4mbps and upload is .99 mbps

 

ISP is Sky, router is Sagem.  No manual configuration

 

Not sure what a Tracert is ?

Hi Alan, speed test is ok.
I think what you need to do is set you VSS a static IP then set port forwarding.
I'm not 100% on the sky's sagem router as it's been a while since I was with sky plus I replaced my router with a decent one. ( Google is your friend if you want to do the same).
I can send you the port numbers you need to forward if you wish ? After making changes to the router you will need to restart it, then reset your VSS.

My trace results are below.  The IP address is 176.250.76.228.  The serial number of the Sure Signal is 40132339934.   I have tried changing the router cable too.

Hi alanfox,

 

Everything looks fine with the traceroute and the registration.

 

As you say it works for a bit then stops, it could be a problem with your broadband or its setup.

 

Do you have a lot of other things attached to your broadband using the internet at the same time?

 

If yes, can you remove them for a bit to see if the connection still drops?

 

Also, do you notice a drop in your internet speed when the connection is lost?
