Solution

Sure Signal V1 not working for months!

After reading through many posts on the forum I still cannot make my sure signal box (version 1) work.  Like many users, it stopped working one day (approx. Oct/Nov 2014) after working for many years.  I did phone Vodafone help line but no solution was found.  I am fed up with having no signal at my house, unable to make or receive calls and text messages and also running up large bills using a land line so I would really like to get this problem sorted and wondered if someone out there can help!

I've read through the troubleshooting guide and I hope I've provided sufficient information:  Here goes:

Check the physical connection between your Sure Signal and the router/modem - DONE all good.

Check that you’ve got an active internet connection - DONE all good.

Reboot your router/modem - DONE - still solid power light on no other lights

Check that your Sure Signal has been assigned an internal IP address by your router- 192.168.1.254

Speed Test - download 23.08 upload 6.72

Ping Test 36

Hi Lesley,

It's very likely that you have a degraded power supply.

It's just not providing sufficient power for the Sure Signal to fully run.

If you require one, replacement power supplies are available from Amazon or Ebay for around £10 inc. delivery, so worth a try.

Good luck,

Mike.

@Lesley246 - We can see that there’s been a move on the Vodafone Sure Signal.

I’ve reset this for you.

Let us know if this has made an improvement with the connection.

If this still isn’t working can you let us know your external IP address as the one you’ve given is the private IP address.

Hi Laura

External IP is 81.151.158.232

Kind regards.

@Lesley246 - This looks fine.

Have you tried another power supply as suggested by @cineriv?

If you’ve tried this and it’s still not working, I recommend you test the Sure Signal at another location (a friend or family members for example), with a different ISP. This will help determine if the fault is with the Sure Signal itself.

When you do this, leave the Sure Signal connected for 24 hours to make sure everything has chance to update.

Hi Jenny

I tried this power lead with  my sure signal box at the office and it didn't work.  I then tried the power lead from the office with the home box at home and there still was one power alight.  Should I try the office sure signal box (with the power lead that works from the office) at home?

What do you suggest now?

@Lesley246 - As the other cable worked fine with your Sure Signal at home, it sounds like you need a new power cable as @cineriv suggested.

Hi Jenny - sorry for the confusion - both power leads do not work with the home sure signal box.

Lesley

@Lesley246 As it's not working with two different power leads, it does sound as though your Sure Signal is faulty.

The Sure Signal version 1 is now out of warranty.

You can find the details on our latest Sure Signal version 3.
